Autumn term is here!

Welcome back to all the new pupils in class 4. Mrs Farnsworth and I are really looking forward to getting to know everybody, and are planning lots of fun interactive activities to help pupils with their learning. All our topics for this year can be viewed on the curriculum map via the website. Our class learning board also shows all topics as well as the key learning indicators for this year. The writing wall features various text forms and grammar and punctuation information. However, we need to add more WOW words to help pupils extend their vocabulary. Class 4 pupils please bring some more in. REMEMBER – make sure they are words that you can use creatively in your own writing.

Quick reminders:

PE lessons are on Tuesday and Wednesday

Library session is on Monday

Homework will be set every Friday and should be brought into class the following Friday, unless otherwise stated.

Your Mile Your Way

Class 4 Ran, walked and played through their mile. Children enjoyed the sunshine and the exercise.

DT – Ancient Indians (Dussehra Elephants)

In the state of Mysore the festival of Dussehra is still celebrated with a parade of beautifully decorated elephants through the streets. The festival’s main theme is about good overcoming evil and a celebration of triumph. The children carried out research, made notes about the different aspects of the parade and collected photographs of the procession. The photographs were used as a stimulus for their own work. The children used clay to create their own Dussehra elephant, we hope you enjoy looking at our magnificent parade.

The children have been using atlases; identifying neighbouring countries and exploring geographical features. The children have carried out research and found lots of interesting facts about Russia; the jeweller Peter Carl Faberge and designed and made their own eggs. Final the children used a traditional Christmas recipe to make sweet teacakes – they were delicious. WE’VE HAD A BRILLIANT WEEK.

In DT children had lots of fun and used recycled materials to create their very own Junkbot

During Science children explored forces and gravity, testing out their own experiments to challenge and test theories.

Children in Class 4 enjoyed finding out about about street dance and even completing a lift during their taster session.

A big thank you to our fabulous FOBS for arranging the Easter Egg Hunt event.  Class 4 thoroughly enjoyed searching for eggs and are looking forward to eating them over the forthcoming holiday!

Geography in Class 4 has taken us to France.  We have discovered interesting facts about Brittany and the Alps and presented our information to the rest of the class.

Using chalk dust, shaving foam, food colouring, water and oil we made patterns on paper...and a mess!!!  We had a fabulous time discovering the science behind the designs left on the paper.

As part of our Science Creativity Week to enrich our curriculum, Mad Scientist Nitro Neil taught us all about how everything in the world is made up of matter.  The children particularly enjoyed making their own slimy putty!

Using drama helps children with their final writing in literacy

After tasting, testing and reviewing a variety of biscuits children from class 4 designed and made our own.  We thought they were all delicious
